CIVIL NON-JURY (Effective 1/2/2026)

Court Schedule:

                9:00a.m. – status call on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays

                9:30 a.m. – hearings on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays

                Trials to be set on the court’s schedule

Emergency hearings will be heard at the discretion of the court after all status calls or set for hearing.

 

General Procedures:

Individuals may appear via Zoom for presentment of all motions, status, and case management provided that they follow the Court’s rules regarding remote appearances.  All hearings shall be conducted in person unless the Order setting the hearing allows for remote appearance.

Individuals who have difficulty appearing remote due to regular connectivity issues, technical difficulties or inappropriate behavior will be required to appear in person.

 

Communication with the Court:

Communication with the Court is strongly discouraged.  Attorneys may communicate with the Court for emergencies only and must copy ALL parties in any communication.

 

Courtesy Copes:

The Court does NOT accept courtesy copies of Motions/Petitions unless specifically requested. 

 

Orders:

A written/typed Order is required for all matters and must be provided in open court or submitted via Odyssey within 24 hours of the case being addressed.

Orders must be dated, identify the parties/attorneys of record, and who was present before the court.  If the Order sets any matter for hearing, the title of the motions set for hearing should be clearly listed with file dates in the Order.

The court will accept motions to dismiss via Odyssey at any time.   Voluntary Orders to Dismiss should include the basis for dismissal.  All such Orders shall also include any future dates which should be stricken.

For “L”, “CH”, “LA”, or “MR” cases filed after 1/1/25, the parties may submit agreed orders via Odyssey up to 24 hours before the call starts in lieu of appearing for a status hearing.  The agreed orders should confirm the status of the discovery if applicable, what actions will be completed by the next date as well as the purpose of the next status hearing.  Proposed trial continuances or resetting contested hearings must be addressed in open court.

Cases set for bench trial will also be assigned a 9:00 A.M. trial status date set for the week before trial.

Cases set for jury trial will also be assigned a 9:00 A.M. trial status date, usually for the Friday before trial.  Unless otherwise directed, counsel for all parties should be physically present at that hearing with a proposed brief statement of the facts of the case suitable for reading to the jurors, proposed jury instructions, motions in limine and remaining pretrial motions to be addressed.

No Orders will be accepted via email.

REMOTE APPEARANCE/ZOOM RULES

  1. All participants must have video and audio capability on their chosen device and be able to competently use both features. 
  2. All participants must display their legal first and last names.  Participants appearing are encouraged to list their case numbers.
  3. All participants must be appropriately dressed and conduct themselves as if they were appearing in a physical courtroom.
  4. All participants must be in an environment free of video and/or audio distractions.
  5. All participants are responsible for ensuring that any video background is appropriate for court.
  6. All participants must refrain from drinking, smoking, chewing gum, driving and any other distracting behavior while their cases are called.
  7. All participants shall remain on mute until their cases are called.
  8. All participants shall turn their video on when their cases are called.
  9. All participants shall not be allowed to speak over other participants or the court. 
  10.  Participants in person shall be addressed prior to parties appearing via Zoom so please be patient.
  11.  All participants shall respond to any inquiry of the clerk via the chat feature.
  12.  Screenshots, recording, broadcasts and unauthorized video/audio capture are prohibited.
  13.  Please notify the clerk via the chat feature if a court interpreter is needed. 
  14.  Failure to comply with any of the Zoom rules may result in removal from the remote proceeding and revocation of any participant’s ability to appear remotely for any future dates.
