About the Positions in the Circuit Clerk’s Office

The Will County Circuit Clerk’s Office is located in the main courthouse.  Employees may be assigned to the main courthouse or any outer facility.  Outer facilities include:  Annex Courthouse, River Valley Justice Center Courthouse, Nicholson Archives or a rotation of seven outer court facilities located in the County of Will.    

All positions in the Circuit Clerk’s Office require a six months probationary period.   All positions are full time positions with an impressive benefits package, including, medical, dental and vision.  Employee parking is provided.


Records Clerk: The Deputy Record Clerk is responsible for storage and retrieval of court files, filing of documents into cases, pulling files for court calls, re-filing, scanning documents as required, back-up phones, and handling requests for files from finance, customer service or court personnel.   Record Clerks must be able to meet the physical demands of the position: walking, bending, kneeling and lifting 25 lbs.  Pre-employment basic skills testing and a minimum of 20 wpm typing are required.  Entry level salary: $26,156
Case Processing: The Deputy Case Processing Clerk is responsible for the initial entry and maintenance of a variety of information associated with traffic and quasi-criminal cases.  They are responsible for assisting with back-up phones, as well as verifying information against source documents and ensuring accuracy of tabulated data including E-ticket data entry.  Pre-employment basic skills testing and a minimum typing skills of 6000 keystrokes per hour are required.  Entry level salary: $26,779
Courier – The Deputy Courier is responsible for pickups and delivery of court files, documents, packages, inter-county office mailings and other items to other county agency offices.  The courier is responsible for ensuring the general maintenance of the automobile and maintaining a clean and organized vehicle, as well as assisting in the organizing of office filing systems, answering phones, and customer service.  The Deputy Courier must be able to meet the physical demands of the position: walking, bending, kneeling and lifting 40 lbs.  Pre-employment basic skills testing and a minimum of 20 wpm typing are required. Entry level salary: $27,417
Finance – The Deputy Finance Clerk is responsible for preparation of disbursements of budgeted funds and collection of account balances, cash receipts and similar items to verify accuracy.  Prepares fund distribution statements for local, State and Federal agencies as well as other authorized recipients; and prepares financial transactions and related activities and determines that amounts posted balance against applicable source documents.  Assist the public by telephone or at a window.  Pre-employment basic skills testing and a minimum of 30 wpm typing are required.  Entry level salary: $27, 417

Customer Service -  The Deputy Customer Service Clerk is responsible for assisting customers (both internal and external) with court available resources including:  copies of court documents, researching court records, preparing certifications, processing child support payments, mail handling and distribution, opening new cases, processing files for appeals, working with customers on the phone, processing payments and issuing receipts for funds received.  Pre-employment basic skills testing and a minimum of 30 wpm typing are required.  Entry level salary: $27, 417


Minute ClerkThe Deputy Court Clerk is responsible for preparation of court calls including updates to calls as necessary; securing required case files for court call; preparing and distributing all required forms; documenting court minutes from a judge in open court; posting continued court dates, and complete and post court dispositions.  The Deputy Court Clerk corresponds both in writing and verbally with supervisor, agencies, peers, and the public. The Deputy Court Clerk must be able to meet the physical demands of the position: walking, bending, kneeling and lifting 25 lbs.  Pre-employment basic skills testing and a minimum of 40 wpm typing are required.  Entry level salary: $28,739
